Congratulations to Franco Le Roux, who has written his name into the history books at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland.
Clocking 7.50 in the 60m hurdles heats, the young star officially set a new African Record. This performance shattered the 25-year-old mark of 7.52 set in Belgium back in 2001. In a rare sporting twist, the previous record holder, Shaun Bownes, now coaches the new African champion.

“As a former athlete, I love seeing this new talent coming through in South Africa! Their parents and family put so much into it, as government doesn’t really do anything for them. Well done, young man!” – Jay | JPS
The NWU athlete reached the global final, placing seventh with a time of 7.51, according to the Potchefstroom Herald. The National Champion is hitting peak form just as the outdoor season begins.
This success proves South African talent can dominate through dedicated family support and hard work.
