The DHL Stormers delivered a masterclass in forward dominance to secure a convincing 32-19 victory over the Vodacom Bulls at Loftus Versfeld.
The North-South derby lived up to the physical expectations of the United Rugby Championship as the visitors snapped their recent losing streak in Pretoria. The Bulls were awarded a penalty try in the 19th minute following a cynical infringement by the Stormers during a powerful driving maul.
“I’m not always certain it’s a good thing to bring the Springboks back into your team on such short notice like the Bulls did today. I think it messes with the team’s ability to gel in a big way.” – JAY
Despite the early setback, the Stormers pack began to squeeze the life out of the contest through superior set-piece work and breakdown control.
Damian Willemse crossed the line just after the half-hour mark to keep the visitors firmly in the hunt as they headed into the halftime break.

The second half saw the Stormers pull away decisively as Paul de Villiers and Hacjivah Dayimani both scored to silence the home crowd.
“Both Paul de Villiers and Jeandré Rudolph had strong performances today, but congratulations to Damian Willemse for being named the official Man of the Match!” – JAY
The Stormers secured a vital four-try bonus point when they were awarded a penalty try of their own in the 66th minute according to official URC match data.

Zak Burger and Kurt-Lee Arendse managed to grab late tries for the hosts, with Handré Pollard adding a conversion, but the Bulls struggled with execution throughout the match.
Willemse was instrumental in the visitors’ success, marshalling the backline and securing the Man of the Match award for his influential display in the Pretoria heat. The Stormers’ superior maul, lineout, and scrum shading proved a massive statement win after recent form dips, ending a tough run for the Cape-based franchise.
Discipline proved a major hurdle for both teams as Marco van Staden and multiple Stormers players saw yellow cards during the high-tension clash.
