Golfing legend Tiger Woods was arrested on a DUI charge following a rollover car accident on Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday afternoon.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek confirmed the arrest during a press conference, stating that Woods exhibited significant signs of impairment at the scene. The 50-year-old was traveling at a high rate of speed near the 200 block of Beach Road when he attempted to overtake a pressure-cleaning truck.
His Land Rover clipped the back of the truck’s trailer, causing the SUV to flip onto its side and slide along the roadway. Initial reports of no serious injuries remain accurate, as both Woods and the other driver escaped the collision without harm.

Woods was able to crawl out of the overturned vehicle through the passenger-side door. Investigators at the scene noted that Woods appeared lethargic and showed clear signs of impairment. While he passed a breathalyzer test with a zero reading for alcohol, he reportedly refused to submit to a urinalysis.
As a result, Woods has been charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Under Florida law, he was required to spend a minimum of eight hours in jail before being released on bail late Friday night.
Authorities believe the suspected impairment may be due to medication rather than alcohol. This incident marks the second time the 15-time major winner has faced DUI-related charges involving non-alcoholic substances, following a similar arrest in 2017.
REASONS FOR LEGAL ACTION
* Woods refused a state-mandated urine test at the Martin County Jail.
* Witnesses and deputies reported visible signs of impairment during roadside evaluations.
* The crash involved property damage to a secondary vehicle and its trailer.
The investigation is ongoing, and no substances were found inside Woods’ vehicle at the time of the crash. The golfing world now waits to see how this legal development affects his status for the upcoming Masters tournament next month.
