Quewin Nortje is finally back in the mix for the Springbok Sevens as they head to Hong Kong for a massive shift in the inaugural World Championship tournament. After a brutal run with injuries that saw him sidelined for the entire regular season, the 23-year-old flyer returns with a point to prove and a scoring record that speaks for itself.
The flyer has crossed the whitewash 32 times in just 12 tournaments, and his pace is exactly what head coach Philip Snyman needs for the trip east. It is important to note that this isn’t just another stop on the circuit; the HSBC SVNS World Championships is a standalone three-event format separate from the regular Series, kicking off in Hong Kong before moving to Valladolid and Bordeaux.

While Nortje returns to provide some serious strike power, the squad has been forced into changes following a physical North American leg. The medical room remains busy as the Blitzboks confirm that Christie Grobbelaar, Dewald Human, and Gino Cupido are all unavailable for selection after picking up knocks in New York.

Zain Davids returns to the setup after a rest period, while Jayden Nell keeps his spot after an impressive debut. The Blitzboks arrive in the Far East with serious momentum, having secured three consecutive tournament wins, though Hong Kong remains the only venue where the South Africans have never lifted the trophy.
