The Hollywoodbets Sharks have confirmed the arrival of experienced scrumhalf Ivan van Zyl to the Shark Tank from the 2026/27 season.
The 30-year-old halfback joins straight from English Premiership powerhouse Saracens, bringing a wealth of top-level experience and proven game management to Durban.

A former Bulls player, van Zyl is no stranger to South African rugby and the unique demands of the United Rugby Championship and Currie Cup.
Sharks fans have been calling for depth and leadership at nine – and van Zyl’s sharp service, tactical kicking and breakdown presence are exactly what the backline needs.
In their official statement the club said:
“The Hollywoodbets Sharks are pleased to announce the arrival of scrum half Ivan Van Zyl to the Shark Tank from the 2026/27 season! The experienced halfback joins us from Saracens! A warm Durban welcome, Ivan!” 
Van Zyl will swap the cold, wet pitches of London for the humid heat and electric atmosphere of Kings Park Stadium.
