South African senior Ruard Van Renen closed out a stellar collegiate career with a massive performance at the 2026 NCAA Championships in Atlanta. Competing at the McAuley Aquatic Center, the University of Georgia standout secured a silver medal in the 100y backstroke final.
Van Renen clocked a blistering time of 43.54 to take the second spot on the podium. This mark stands as the third-fastest time in the history of the Georgia Bulldogs program, proving his status as one of the elite backstrokers in the American collegiate system.
