The return of the Notorious one is finally on the horizon. After several years of teases and injury delays, Conor McGregor officially confirmed this week in late March 2026 that he is returning to the UFC this summer.
The current target is July 11, 2026, which aligns with UFC 329 during International Fight Week in Las Vegas. This date is widely expected to be the stage for his massive comeback at the T-Mobile Arena.
McGregor took to social media to declare that the rumors are true and that Mr. Confidence returns to save fighting again. His return follows the completion of an 18-month anti-doping suspension that officially ended on March 20, 2026.

While a specific weight class has not been officially signed, Max Holloway has emerged as the frontrunner for the July date. Holloway recently expressed interest in a rematch at any weight, according to reports from MMA Fighting. Other names in the mix include Ian Garry for an all-Irish blockbuster and Jorge Masvidal. Surprisingly, the long-awaited Michael Chandler fight seems to be off the table for now as Chandler is booked for the UFC Freedom 250 card in June.

Negotiations are described as well advanced by insiders like Ariel Helwani. The UFC reportedly needs a major headliner for this International Fight Week card more than ever to anchor their summer schedule.
REASONS THIS RETURN IS DIFFERENT
- This marks his first appearance since the brutal leg break suffered at UFC 264.
- The Nevada State Athletic Commission has already approved the July 11 date.
- McGregor is now 37 years old and facing massive questions regarding ring rust.
It has been nearly five years since the world saw McGregor compete. Whether he still possesses the magic that defined his rise remains the biggest question every MMA fan is asking right now.
