The South African sprint star Caitlin De Lange has officially qualified for the 2026 Commonwealth Games after a clinical performance in the 50m Butterfly.
De Lange secured silver in the final with a time of 25.98 seconds, dipping comfortably under the required standard. She left her rivals in her wake during a powerhouse final phase to secure her spot for Glasgow.
The technical precision on display suggests she is nowhere near her ceiling yet. While some athletes crater under the weight of qualifying pressure, De Lange remained composed and explosive.

Her underwater phase was the decisive factor that allowed her to stay clear of a competitive field and secure her second individual qualification of the meet.
“Caitlin is becoming a real problem for the international circuit and she looks lethal ahead of the Games.” – Jay | JPS
This result solidifies her position as one of the most exciting young talents in South African aquatics. She is finding a gear that few others can match when the pressure is on. If she maintains this trajectory, she will be a legitimate podium threat on the global stage this July.
